Most copywriters know what AIDA means but have not yet fully understood what it entails. AIDA stands for Attention, Interest, Desire and Action respectively. While it does not strictly requires a writer to follow the rules legitimately, it does affect the status of an article. In fact, experts say that when one of the AIDA is not achieved, the marketing and advertising will more likely to be unsuccessful. Here are the rules of AIDA explained in a much thorough approach.
A is for Attention
This is often called as an awareness. In achieving the Attention rule, the copywriter has to attract the attention of the audience in a different perspective. One of the techniques being done is to provide a distraction. The ads can be put into websites that are not, in any way, related to a certain product. This is called the ambient media. Some businesses apply a shock factor in which provocative images are used. All these techniques truly magnetizes the audience and that is the first step to make them more interested in reading an article.
I is for Interest
Once the attention of the audience is caught, the next thing to do is to keep them reading the article all the way through. Maintain their interest by keeping the subject light and easy. Break up the information into small paragraphs and make use of subheadings to organize the article’s thoughts. Never use too many technical words and make sure to provide some graphical images to keep their interest paced up. Remember to keep the whole article as lively as possible. People love a little bit sense of humor but never go to the point of being nonsense.
D is for Desire
This is one of the most crucial parts of copywriting as it entails a lot of convincing to stir the audience into liking a product or service. A good example of this is selling a mug. Sure, a typical mug is all-made up of ceramics and it can truly hold a cup of coffee. However, a typical mug can be made outrageous by putting in some information like hand-made craft, imported from another country, the famous celebrities who are using the mug. It is all about the proper positioning of the product to make the audience fully enticed of the mug’s worth.
A is for Action
Taking action means closing the deal. Most businesses close the deal by offering a special discount promo or by providing a free shipment delivery. Anything that would make the audience see the need of it and grab the opportunity to do so. This is the time where aggressive selling is done. It entails a lot of convincing as it can make or break the whole effort in writing a good article.
Being equipped with the right knowledge in copywriting puts an article into a functional use. This means that certain write-up is not only made to be interesting, it also has a convincing factor that many people would want to read and believe. Many copywriters are so successful because they practice the AIDA in a comprehensive sense.
